Julia Child Uses This Simple Household Item To Make Poaching Eggs So Simple!

It's always nice to have freshly cooked eggs for breakfast, but more often than not, we tend to make scrambled eggs or hard boiled eggs — because being stressed over over-easy or poached eggs first thing in the morning is not our cup of tea.

But that was before we learned Julia Child's simple, fail-proof way of making poached eggs: Use a safety pin.

Blogger Kelli Foster explains on The Kitchn, "Use a pin to make a small hole in the eggshell. This will release any air that's in the egg, which could otherwise cause it to crack. And don't worry, the hole is small enough that nothing will come out."

Here's what you need to do to have that yolk porn for breakfast tomorrow.

Bring a pot of water to boil.

Then, undo a safety pin and very carefully poke a small hole into the eggshell. Place the egg — shell and all — into the boiling water for precisely 10 seconds. This will help the egg keep its shape later.

Quickly and carefully remove the egg from the water, and then lower the heat of the pot so the water is just simmering.

When the egg is cool enough to handle, crack the egg gently into the simmering water.
